POSSEHL DSK - Microsurfacing

Quick, economical, and environmentally compatible rehabilitation of traffic lanes in cold-mix manufacturing process

POSSEHL DSK Microsurfacing is a standardized construction method to maintain and preserve vehicular-use surfaces made from asphalt and concrete on federal motorways, the municipal traffic route network, and for industrial and civilian purposes. It is also installed on airfield pavements, e.g. shoulder areas of takeoff and landing runways.

As an economical, environmentally friendly, and quick procedure, it serves to

  • improve skid-resistance of polished surfaces of the sublayer
  • create evenness in the event of deformities and rutting
  • extend the lifespan and duration of usage of worn, embrittled asphalt pavements and alligator cracks
  • reduce tire-pavement noise by selecting the corresponding textures, e.g. DSK 3 or DSK 5. 

The asphalt mixture consists of particularly high-grade and abrasion-resistant, naturally hard stones of graduated grain up to 8mm, cationic polymer-tempered bitumen emulsion, and standard cement to control the breaking point. It is produced and installed with special, self-driving mixing and laying machines. State-of-the-art, computerized distribution technology achieves high distribution precision.

The types of mixtures, with regard to binding agent content and type of grit, are selected based on vehicular load capacity, the condition of the existing pavement, and the local situation. The full-surface layer application is a dual-layer process.

POSSEHL SPEZIALBAU offers the complete range of services: delivery of the construction materials, traffic safety measures, preparatory work like grinding away deformities or heavily damaged areas, reprofiling damaged zones and uneven spots with a suitable asphalt mixture, the removal or masking of markings, the protection of roadway structures, the cleaning of areas with high-pressure suction sweepers, the application of an adhesive layer, etc.
