From the garbage dump to the city park
Asphalt construction for skaters&bikers
Modern and contemporary leisure activities for young people and the "young at heart" are still a rarity today. The northwestern Mecklenburg town of Grevesmühlen has addressed this issue and killed two birds with one stone. Because a former garbage dump was turned into a new city park with bike and skater course.
We from POSSEHL Spezialbau love from our tradition already innovation and transformation and are proud on it also to this project our contribution to have made. In manual labor (!) our asphalt crew has applied approx. 200 tons of asphalt base course for the bike track. This corresponds to approx. 1,000sqm over which 10 cm of base course was asphalted. The asphalt was then compacted using several small machines such as vibratory plates and other special equipment. Due to the very special and narrow course layout, there was no possibility to use large machines here.
The bike park is still not really "green" due to the construction. But soon the first bikes will be able to roll over the fresh track and fill the new city park with life. We wish a lot of fun and accident-free rides.
