Concrete road renewal

As part of the ongoing maintenance and modernization of the German freeway network, the construction project on the A1 motorway at the Lübeck junction in the direction of Hamburg was of particular importance. The focus here was on the renewal of the main carriageway, which was renovated over a length of 450 meters and a width of 4.80 meters.

The client for this important infrastructure project was Autobahn GmbH in Lübeck, with the support of the Bad Oldesloe highway maintenance depot. This cooperation enabled the smooth implementation of the construction project and compliance with the highest quality standards.

The extensive work involved various trades, which were carefully coordinated in order to complete the project on time and to the highest quality standards:

• Concrete removal with milling insert and disposal: The existing road surface was carefully removed and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner to make way for the new construction work.
• Rapid concrete SB20 used overnight in advance: In order to make the threading lane available promptly, rapid-hardening concrete was used precisely in an overnight operation.
• Road surface concrete, chippings concrete C30/37, LP: The main lane was renovated with an early high-strength road surface concrete that ensures long-lasting stability.
• Joint cutting and grouting work: Specialist tradesmen carried out joint cutting work and ensure the long-lasting protection and maintenance of the carriageway.
• Pavement marking: The main traffic lane was marked with the utmost precision to ensure the safety of road users.
• Concrete excavation repairs with epoxy mortar in the acceleration lane and hard shoulder area: In addition, excavation repairs with epoxy mortar were carried out to ensure the overall quality of the traffic infrastructure.

The planned construction period for this project extended over the 41st to 43rd calendar week of 2023. The close cooperation between the client, the contractor and the various trades ensured that this important construction project was completed on time and to the highest quality.
