The aim of the guidelines is to simplify the planning and approval process for cycle paths in cities and municipalities and thus make cycling in Bavaria more attractive. The choice of road surface is particularly important: to ensure the comfort and safety of cyclists, an epoxy resin-based surface is explicitly recommended. Alternatively, an asphalt surface can also be considered. However, materials such as cobblestones or gravel should be avoided, as they make cycling more difficult and impair riding comfort.
EP-GRIP Velo perfectly fulfils the requirements of the guidelines: the epoxy resin-based coating, into which a mixture of aggregates is sprinkled, offers a high level of grip, prevents slipping and slipperiness and thus improves the comfort and safety of cyclists. EP-GRIP Velo is also characterised by its long durability - a fact that has been proven by studies conducted by RWTH Aachen University.
In addition to these properties, EP-GRIP Velo also impresses with its wide range of colours. While bright red is recommended for better visibility at junctions or other potential danger spots, cities and municipalities generally have the choice between blue, green, yellow or even purple lanes.
It turns out that EP-GRIP Velo is the ideal solution for all urban and suburban cycle paths. The coating not only fulfils the high requirements of the new planning guidelines in Saxony, but is also an excellent choice for cycle networks throughout Europe.
