POSSEHL AsKo is precisely dosed, sprayed over the entire surface and homogeneously onto the existing asphalt surface course by means of a computer-controlled special ramp spraying device calibrated according to European standards. POSSEHL AsKo is applied at a time when no significant damage has yet occurred to the surface course.
Asphalt preservation on the A4 in Saxony
Whether it's rush hour traffic, heavy lorries, long traffic jams and frequent stop & go - our motorways are exposed to enormous stress every day. So it's no wonder that cracks form over time, grain breakouts occur and potholes appear. The use of POSSEHL AsKo is recommended before such problems and defects become apparent.
This was recently the case on the A4 motorway: near Weißenberg and near Döbeln, two sections of road were treated with the preservative solution. The aim was to protect the carriageway in the long term in order to avoid premature replacement of the asphalt and significantly extend the service life of the road. Thanks to its composition, AsKo acts like a protective membrane around the components contained in the asphalt. It also fills existing microcracks and small cavities. In this way, AsKo delays the chemical and physical deterioration and ageing process of the road.
We were able to treat a total of 150,000 square metres on the A4. In addition to this immense scope, the biggest challenge of the construction site was its organisation under flowing traffic. The work was carried out during the day and at night, with one lane being closed at a time. Thiendorfer Fräsdienst, a subsidiary of POSSEHL Spezialbau, ensured the safety of our employees. The company specialises in traffic safety and is our first point of contact for such complex tasks.
The project on the A4 motorway shows how efficiently and successfully POSSEHL AsKo can be used for road maintenance. Thanks to this technology, the road is protected in the long term, meaning that expensive and time-consuming renewals are no longer necessary for the time being.
