EP-GRIP URBAN
UNIFORM APPEARANCE ON THE RHINE

The area previously resembled the story of ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’: old and uneven mixed with new and deep black. Now, the picture has changed – thanks to our EP-GRIP URBAN coating.

On behalf of the city of Koblenz, we were commissioned to redesign the towpath in Kesselheim, the northernmost district of the independent city of Koblenz. The Rhine embankment road with its park, the Rhine cycle path and the German Unity cycle path is one of the most popular excursion and recreation areas in the region. Visually, however, the towpath was anything but a highlight. The approximately 170 square metre area resembled a patchwork quilt.

Comfort, continuity and grain

To give the path a new look and greater comfort, it was resurfaced with EP-GRIP URBAN.

The original POSSEHL surface is particularly impressive due to its durability: it lasts up to five times longer than conventional solutions and is therefore particularly suitable for heavily frequented paths – perfect for the park with its numerous walkers. The combination of epoxy resin and stone also creates a non-slip surface that offers safety even in rain, snow and icy conditions.

EP-GRIP URBAN also scores highly with its incredible variety of colours. Towns and municipalities can choose red, green, blue or yellow paths and surfaces. In Kesselheim, we used natural Danube quartz 1–3 mm. The light, friendly grain blends harmoniously with the green spaces and significantly enhances the appearance of the path.

Small project, big impact

The asphalt coating in Kesselheim demonstrates the advantages of EP-GRIP Urban. The project was a complete success. Many thanks to our team for their reliable implementation – and to the city of Koblenz for the trust they placed in us.
