55 tons of mastic asphalt in just four days - our team once again did a great job on the L391. Small cracks had been running through and along the country road near Wennigsen for some time. Disturbing spalling and the first signs of material fatigue were also evident. A condition that we could not leave as it was and which made comprehensive repairs necessary.

On behalf of the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport, we renewed the entire surface course of the road within four days. We laid over 500 m² of mastic asphalt surface course by machine, which corresponds to 55.0 tons of material.

Before the work could begin, we developed the traffic concept and took charge of traffic safety, including the full closure of the L391 and a signposted detour.

Then we got down to work: first, we milled off the old surface course over two days and prepared the surface for the new paving. On the third day, the mastic asphalt screed was laid mechanically with the support of Kühne Asphaltbau from Magdeburg. On the fourth day, we produced the joints and reopened the road to traffic. 

It can be that simple: The project is an excellent example of how efficient mastic asphalt is for repairs and how quickly, cleanly and reliably our team works.
